FAQ
What is OpenModels?
OpenModels is an open LLM token marketplace. Developers add credits, create one OpenAI-compatible API key, and use supported models with transparent route pricing.
Which endpoint should I call?
Use the OpenAI-compatible chat completions endpoint:
SDK clients should use this base URL:
Is the API OpenAI-compatible?
Yes. Use a standard OpenAI-compatible SDK, replace the base URL with the OpenModels base URL, and pass your ale-... API key as the Bearer token.
How does the route parameter work?
route is an optional OpenModels extension for provider route selection. Remove route and route_mode to use the default auto route.
To pin a request to a provider route, pass a provider name you have confirmed in the Models table or OpenModels dashboard:
Fixed provider routes are sent only to the selected provider. If that route is unavailable, remove route or choose another provider route for the model.
Does route change billing?
Yes. Usage is charged by the actual provider route used for the request. If you omit route, OpenModels uses the default available route for the selected model.
Which models are supported?
Use the Models page as the current source. It is generated from the Key Market model pricing feed and lists active supported models with selected route pricing information.
What are credits?
Credits are your OpenModels balance. They are shared across supported models and API keys, and requests consume credits according to the selected route’s pricing unit.
Do credits expire?
Check the OpenModels dashboard or account terms for the current credit expiration policy.
Can I use OpenModels without a monthly plan?
Yes. One-time top-ups are supported. Monthly plans are optional and designed for recurring usage.
Which plans are currently listed?
Current active plan data:
These recurring monthly plans are shown in the dashboard.
Does OpenModels support crypto payments?
Yes. Crypto payments are supported for one-time credit top-ups. Credits are added after payment confirmation.
Is OpenModels a proxy chain?
No. OpenModels is built around verified supply paths and route visibility, not sub2api-style proxy chains or shared reseller keys.
